A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi, Kia ora, Konichiwa, Bonjour, Hola, Talofa and Ni Hao!

My name is Emily Huang and I welcome you to my blog. I grew up in a small-town in Napier, Hawkes Bay who has been surrounded by nature, a loving family and furry friends.

 

I am a third-year student studying design and commerce at the University of Auckland. I love living in the city, being constantly surrounded by new opportunities, individuals and things to do. However, cultural diversity within Auckland is the thing I love the most. I have a big appreciation for all cultures and languages all my life. As a Chinese-Kiwi, I have been privileged been brought up within Chinese traditions and values which I hold very dearly. Over the past few years, there has been a big increase in Asian actors and actresses which has been very inspiring to me. I am a strong believer in equality within genders, race, culture, sex, beliefs, and values which I hope I can help to enforce with design in the future.

Other passions of mine include fashion, fitness, travelling, living a balanced lifestyle, cooking, friends, and family, adventuring the outdoors, fashion and sustainability for our future planet. I aspire to clothing brands such as Kowtow and Afends who produce sustainable fashion through ethical practices and resources. One day I would love to help design or create a brand of my own to help promote sustainability within society.

 

After my degree at Auckland University, I aspire to study abroad in even bigger cities such as New York or London. I feel extremely excited about where my designing career takes me and look forward to collaborating with other individuals who share the same love and passions as me on small and large scale projects.
