Impact of Digital Marketing on Fast Fashion

This research proposal was an assignment for DES300 at the University of Auckland.


The design challenge:

How does digital marketing influence fashion trends in Western society,

This study will focus on how social media (Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter) shapes the way people buy and consume fashion and how this impacts the environment and society.


This research will explore the current context and identify opportunities within mindfulness that would lead to more environmentally and socially responsible outcomes for fashion industry practices in Aotearoa.


Research is necessary as the fashion industry is creating large-scale social impacts such as unethical and hazardous working conditions and environmental concerns.
